What I do, and what I don't

I'm a family coach. I work with parents on how their household runs - routines, meals, household rules, independence, and the parents' own time.

I am not a therapist, psychologist, physician or dietitian. I don't diagnose or treat anything, and I don't give medical or nutritional advice about your child.

What I work on

  • The shape of your weekday

and the five-to-eight window in particular

  • The structure of family meals

when, where, who cooks what, what stops being negotiable

  • The small set of household rules

and how you hold them when you're depleted

  • Age-appropriate independence

what your child takes over, and in what order

  • Division of labour

and mental load between two adults

  • Screen policy

as a written household rule rather than a nightly argument

  • Protected adult time

    evenings, the couple, friendships

  • Transitions

a new school, a new baby, a move, a return to work

  • Getting two parents

to agree on one set of rules

What I don't touch - and where I send you

If this is what's happeningWho you need

Anxiety, low mood or distress - in your child or in youLicensed mental health professional
The postpartum period, for either parentYour physician
Conflict in the couple that is really about the coupleLicensed marriage and family therapist
Separation, custody, or anything legalAn attorney - and an LMFT for the family side

If you're not sure which column you're in, write to me and I'll tell you.
Being sent elsewhere costs you nothing and can save you months.

On credentials, plainly

I don't hold a degree in child psychology and I don't claim one. What I have is a French upbringing, an American household, my own children, and years spent professionally redesigning how organisations actually run - which is closer to this work than it sounds.

I'll tell you where an idea comes from. I won't dress up my own experience as research, and I won't tell you something is proven when it is simply how it's done where I'm from.

The rules I hold myself to

  • I never give individualised advice about a child's diet, weight, portions or calories. Ever.
  • I never use clinical language for a non-clinical situation.
  • I refer early rather than late, and I say why.
  • I work with the parents. I don't work on the child.
  • If you're already working with a licensed professional, they lead and I fit around them.

Nothing on this website is medical, psychological or nutritional advice, and nothing here is a substitute for care from a licensed professional.
